about half an hour ago, i finished up a run through The Nexus with a PuG i got into through the dungeon finder tool.  i suppose i shouldn’t have set my expectations as high as i did, but i was hoping to have some fun while expanding my WoW portfolio to include instances.  about five minutes in to the instance, it all came crashing down.

we didn’t wipe, and there was only one death.  i didn’t pick up any usable gear since the instance is way low level for me, but i wasn’t expecting to.  i wasn’t sure how it was going to go since nobody said anything when we were all ported into the instance.  there was zero organization.  everyone else spent most of the instance trash talking, and after the final boss it got even worse.  at about the five minute mark, the healer and the tank started fighting with each other, which is when i realized this wasn’t going to go well.

i suppose i should consider it a success, since i only got called “fucking horrible” by the tank, which the healer agreed with.  the hunter and the mage got the worst of it.  but it still reaffirmed why i don’t do group content in this game: because it almost always ends up as a bile-spewing dick-wagging contest unless i’m with people i know, even if the definition of “people i know” is limited to guildmates.  and even then, i’ve had times where guildmates end up getting pissy over an instance run.

i’m in this game to have fun, not to read some 14-year old call everyone in the party a fucking newb for half an hour.  and if this is how people in the game are going to act, i’m probably going to quit for good before too long.
